SketchUp Studio Subscription

What is SketchUp Studio?

The SketchUp Studio Licence is for design teams that want to advance their workflows. Draw in 3D using our 3D modelling software, import and model on-point cloud data from a variety of file formats and generate high-quality photoreal renders, and share your designs. Windows only.

V-Ray 6 for SketchUp (Windows only.) and Scan Essentials (Windows only.)  plus Revit Importer for SketchUp Studio (Windows only.) are now included in your SketchUp Studio subscription. Start your project off by importing and modelling on robust point cloud data and finish it using incredible, high-quality studio renders.

A SketchUp Studio subscription is assigned to one individual and can only be used by that registered user. It cannot be shared between colleagues. The individual can authorise their subscription on two computers that they use – but can only use one at a time (typically a work computer/desktop and a laptop).

To access your subscription, you must sign in with Trimble ID. Each user account can only be associated with one individual person. You cannot create a generalised user account that is shared by more than one person. This is what we refer to as a “named user”.

Subscription vs Classic Perpetual

As of November 4, 2020, SketchUp Pro is no longer available in a perpetual license form with its annual maintenance and support fees.  A subscription is now the way to access SketchUp Pro/ Studio, which offers a whole suite of products at a lower price point and with constant updates and improvements to user requests.

What’s Included?

SketchUp Pro

There’s a reason SketchUp is synonymous with intuitive and user-friendly 3D design software: it doesn’t sacrifice usability for functionality. Start drawing lines and shapes. Push and pull surfaces to turn them into 3D shapes. Stretch, copy, rotate and paint to create anything you want.

The SketchUp Pro subscription includes the premium online modeller (SketchUp for Web), Trimble Connect for Business, as well as the desktop applications; SketchUp Pro for Desktop, LayOut, SketchUp for PreDesign, and Style Builder. The bundle also includes augmented reality features within SketchUp Viewer for iOS and Android and viewing apps for the following XR devices: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Microsoft HoloLens, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

V-Ray

From detailed high-rise buildings to interior floor plans, add realism into your projects using V-Ray. With atmospheric effects, global illumination, natural lighting, real-life textures, and shading options, you will truly be able to showcase your project in the best light with just a few steps.

Direct modeling
Draw and snap directly onto your point cloud using SketchUp’s native toolbox and accurately translate your point cloud into a 3D model. Lock onto a single plane for added modeling precision.

Scan Essentials

Increase workflow efficiency by importing, viewing, and modeling directly on point cloud data from terrestrial scans, photogrammetry, lidar sensors, mobile mapping, and drone captures. Use Scan Essentials to precisely — and rapidly — ensure model accuracy no matter the size of your file. Finalize the 3D details and prep your project for the final build by creating 2D documentation from point cloud data directly in LayOut.

Revit Importer

Many SketchUp customers are using our tools alongside other BIM and CAD software. Over time we have received multiple requests for improving the interoperability workflows between SketchUp and these other tools, especially Revit, so that transitioning from one tool to another becomes frictionless.

We, therefore, decided to investigate some potential solutions starting with looking at ways to improve how Revit files are imported inside SketchUp. We are pleased to announce that we now have a Revit Importer as part of the Studio subscription.

Other features

  • The active 3D view is exported by default (It can be changed in Revit). If no 3D view is active, the first 3D view containing {3D} or 3D or 3D in its name is exported. If the Revit project does not contain any 3D view, a temporary view is created and populated with available visible geometries.
  • Respects the Revit model origin.
  • Imports the highest level of details.
  • Imports the primary design option

LayOut

LayOut takes your 3D model into 2D space; it’s the tool for creating documentation from your SketchUp model.

SketchUp for iPad

SketchUp for iPad is the new, versatile way to create, edit, and view 3D models whether you’re on a job site, on the go, or in the office. With support for Apple Pencil, multi-touch gestures, and mouse and keyboard, you can harness the power of 3D your way. Quickly draw, swipe, and click to bring form to your creative vision.

PreDesign

PreDesign lets you enhance your design research before you even begin to model. Figure out daylighting, shading/glazing, outside spaces and architectural response.

Style Builder

Style Builder has one primary job: enabling you to create sketchy edge styles from your own images.

SketchUp Web

Subscribers to the Pro bundle are given access to the premium features of SketchUp’s browser-based modeler. Without support for extensions, SketchUp for Web is not for the true power user—but the core modeling tools are available on any device. With Trimble Connect and SketchUp for Web, a user isn’t required to carry their hardware everywhere they go to showcase conceptual designs to a client. The premium web modeler includes the following features that are not available in SketchUp Free: Export to DWG/DXF/PDF/TIF/3DS/FBX/OBJ/XSI, Outliner, Solid Tools, and custom styles/materials.

3D Warehouse

Find a 3D model of just about anything and import it straight into your own model.

Extension Warehouse

SketchUp extensions are add-on tools that solve 3D modeling problems which can seriously supercharge your workflow.

Support

You’ll get all the help you need with any installation and technical questions that may arise.
