What is included in SketchUp Studio for Students/Educators & Universities?

SketchUp Pro

There’s a reason SketchUp is synonymous with intuitive and user-friendly 3D design software: it doesn’t sacrifice usability for functionality. Start drawing lines and shapes. Push and pull surfaces to turn them into 3D shapes. Stretch, copy, rotate and paint to create anything you want.

The SketchUp Pro subscription includes the premium online modeler (SketchUp for Web), Trimble Connect for Business, as well as the desktop applications; SketchUp Pro for Desktop, LayOut, PreDesign, and Style Builder. The bundle also includes augmented reality features within SketchUp Viewer for iOS and Android and viewing apps for the following XR devices: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Microsoft HoloLens, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

LayOut

LayOut takes your 3D model into 2D space; it’s the tool for creating documentation from your SketchUp model.

SketchUp for iPad

SketchUp for iPad is the new, versatile way to create, edit, and view 3D models whether you’re on a job site, on the go, or in the office. With support for Apple Pencil, multi-touch gestures, and mouse and keyboard, you can harness the power of 3D your way. Quickly draw, swipe, and click to bring form to your creative vision.

Scan Essentials

Scan Essentials is an extension that adds a huge amount of value early on in your workflow because it lets you import, view, and model directly on point cloud data in SketchUp—accurately capturing the “as-built” condition of your project. It equips first-timers and pros to quickly turn rich point cloud data into accurate 3D models with ease through a variety of file formats (E57, RWP, LAZ, TZF, LAS, PLY). You no longer have to waste time painstakingly modeling contextual details—simply import your point cloud, and model directly on it using SketchUp’s native toolbox.

PreDesign

PreDesign lets you enhance your design research before you even begin to model. Figure out daylighting, shading/glazing, outside spaces and architectural response.

Style Builder

Style Builder has one primary job: enabling you to create sketchy edge styles from your own images.

SketchUp Web

Subscribers to the Pro bundle are given access to the premium features of SketchUp’s browser-based modeller. Without support for extensions, SketchUp for Web is not for the true power user—but the core modelling tools are available on any device. With Trimble Connect and SketchUp for Web, a user isn’t required to carry their hardware everywhere they go to showcase conceptual designs to a client. The premium web modeller includes the following features that are not available in SketchUp Free: Export to DWG/DXF/PDF/TIF/3DS/FBX/OBJ/XSI, Outliner, Solid Tools, and custom styles/materials.

3D Warehouse

Find a 3D model of just about anything and import it straight into your own model.

Extension Warehouse

SketchUp extensions are add-on tools that solve 3D modelling problems which can seriously supercharge your workflow.

Support

You’ll get all the help you need with any installation and technical questions that may arise.

Trimble Connect

Trimble Connect is a cloud storage and collaboration platform accessible via desktop, mobile, web, and mixed-reality devices. It allows users to share and access project information anywhere, with collaboration tools including 3D markup, task assignment, and clash checking. Connect supports  Autodesk, Tekla, and SketchUp file formats, plus point clouds, PDF, images, IFC, Microsoft Office files and more for collaboration across disparate teams and functions.

The Trimble Connect app for XR (HoloLens and MagicLeap) allows users to experience models in augmented reality in tabletop mode or at 1:1 scale; models can be aligned with real-world reference points for an immersive experience.

SketchUp Campus

SketchUp Campus is a unique, in-depth learning hub with SketchUp-approved courses, to make learning SketchUp convenient and simple.

SketchUp Viewer for iOS/Android

SketchUp Viewer for Mobile with the option to add paid AR functionality; these paid features are included with the SketchUp Pro bundle.

SketchUp Viewer for Mobile opens models from 3D Warehouse, Trimble Connect, and Dropbox. View and present models with the familiar orbit, pan, and zoom tools. The viewer also supports scenes, fly-through animations, section planes, layer visibility, X-Ray, and edge and face styles.

AR features enable users to merge 3D models with real-world context; allowing them to reimagine room layouts, evaluate proposals in context or review projects as they would a scale model.

SketchUp Viewers for XR (AR/VR)

Subscribers to the SketchUp Pro bundle will have access to our full range of viewers for mixed reality devices: Microsoft HoloLens and Windows Mixed Reality devices; and virtual reality devices: Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Other XR platforms are in development.

With SketchUp XR Viewers, users can immerse themselves in a project at 1:1 scale to experience, understand or resolve complex spatial dynamics. Cycling through scenes within a model facilitates rapid design decisions and can show construction sequencing. Teams may collaborate via live audio; virtual avatars represent a colleague’s point of view, allowing them to be more easily guided. Tools such as Tape Measure and Entity Info provide insights when needed. On AR devices, alignment with real-world reference points allows digital models to be placed in situ.

Sefaira

Sefaira is an early-stage analysis for better building performance. It amplifies your building performance by running full annual simulations powered by industry-accredited analysis engines, allowing you to view building performance results in minutes instead of weeks.
